In our previous post, we have
discussed the concept behind making a solar oven for light duty at home; today
we will see how to make one solar oven for heavy duty at home. We will discuss
here about each spare or component which will be used here, we will also
discuss the design and manufacturing process of homemade solar oven for heavy
duty services. Finally we will see here the life cycle analysis.
As we know that nonrenewable
energy sources are limited and we need to save these sources by using other
sources of energy such as solar energy. We can be securing a solar oven of
heavy duty and powerful energy of sun will be utilized in our daily need and we
can save fossil fuel and also reduce our price against electricity and gas
bill.
Material selection
Material selection for any
product is very critical step as overall performance of that product depends on
raw material used.
We will consider here material
for manufacturing solar oven for heavy duty & following materials are
required for manufacturing a solar oven of high duty.
- Drum of metal such as drum of oil
- Jigsaw along with blade for metal cutting
- Sheet metal such as metal which is used in pressure cooker
- String
- Measuring tape
- Marker
- Sheet metal shear
- Metal splashing
- Reflective paint such as Barbecue-rated
- Drill m/c & de greasing shop

Design and manufacturing Process
Before going to design phase,
designers observe following terms in order to provide the best design for solar
oven
- Availability & Costing of materials
- Site of heavy intensity of sun light
- Capacity required as per customer need
There are following simple steps that should be
followed during manufacturing of solar oven
Step-1
Shear or cut the drum of metal with the help of
jigsaw in vertical direction and only half portion of this sheared drum will be
utilized for this purpose
Step-2
Cleaning inner surface of drum of metal with the
help of de-greasing soap
Step-3
In this step we have to cut one rectangle and two
semi circle shape of sheet metal for Contouring inside of half portion of metal
drum.
Step-4
In this step we have to fix sheet metal inside of
drum. To complete this task we have to make holes by drill m/c in drum &
sheet metal surface at same distance and then we have to fix sheet metal with
the help of rivets.
Step-5
In order to maximize the amount of heat, we provide
a layer of reflective paint inside the drum.
Step-6
In this step we have to
produce a continuous lip of metal across 3 out of the 4 top edges of the solar
oven.
Step-7
In this step we have to provide a very thin layer of
insulation over the outer surface of oven and it might be done with the help of
spraying across outer surface of oven
Step-8
In this step we provide a base for our solar oven.
Wood will be the best to serve as base for oven. We also drill holes at the
bottom of oven
Step-9
We use a glass of 5 mm thickness, glass should be
tempered for taking advantage of good toughness and there should be smooth
edges around the glass as we slide this glass over the tip of oven
Step-10
We also fix a thermometer magnetic in order to
record the temperature and we also.

Provide an aluminum rectangular grill for easily
placement of foods
We can use our solar oven in sun light & can
secure 100 to 175 degree centigrade
Life cycle analysis
In following figure we will be
able to understand the cycle analysis light duty solar oven.
Solar oven for heavy duty will be
made by such products those are recyclable easily. If we look the whole concept
behind making solar oven, we will realize that it’s less costly and more
importantly that we are not using fossil fuels those are quite dangerous for
environment.
So the idea to make a solar oven will be environmental friendly as well as economical also.
